#1
WOOL SELECTION
Cashmere is obtained from the wool of cashmere breed goats. These goats, native to the Himalayas, produce a fine, soft wool that is ideal for making quality textiles.

#2
SHEARING
Cashmere goats are sheared once a year, usually in spring, to harvest their precious wool. This stage requires a great deal of expertise to ensure that shearing does not harm the animals and preserves the length and quality of the fibres.

#3
SORTING AND WASHING
Raw wool is sorted to remove any impurities as well as lower quality fibres. It is then washed to remove dirt and natural oils.

#4
UNTANGLING
The wool fibres are separated according to their length and fineness. Longer, finer fibres are generally used to produce higher quality cashmere.

#5
SPINNING
The untangled fibres are combed and spun to create cashmere yarns. This process transforms the wool into soft, luxurious yarns, ready to be woven or knitted.

#6
WEAVING OR KNITTING
Cashmere yarns are woven on looms to create fabrics or knitted to produce knitted garments. This stage determines the texture and final appearance of the product.

#7
FINISHING
Cashmere textiles are washed again to remove any residue and improve their softness. They are then treated to obtain specific properties such as gloss or to ensure resistance to pilling.

CARING FOR CASHMERE

To keep your cashmere lovely and soft, avoid washing it too often. It's well worth using a gentle detergent and the cold wool cycle on the washing machine. If you prefer to hand-wash, soak the garment and gently pat it. Then rinse in clean water. Dry this fabric away from heat to preserve the colour, and lie it flat to keep its shape. Don't iron cashmere (to stop it lustering). However, you can use steam to get the creases out.
