INTERVIEW WITH SANDRINE BREZES, COLLECTIONS DIRECTOR AT MAISON123
WHY THIS COLLABORATION?
Initially, there was a desire to tell a story about the material and to approach it with an artistic perspective. The desire to stand out, to be different, and to share a new, more creative side of Maison 123. Through this collaboration, we wanted to start telling the story of the Maison 123 art of living, which goes beyond the realm of fashion. We wanted to share with our customers our love for art, to democratize it, and to highlight an artistic talent still relatively unknown to the general public. Every canvas is unique, every creation is unique, every woman is unique, Maison 123 is unique…
WHY HARRISON PRIGNET ?
It was, above all, a wonderful encounter, a true human connection. A sense of complicity was born, trust developed, and the desire to work together became obvious. He embodies human values that are dear to me, and I immediately loved his strong, modern, graphic, and dynamic artistic identity. His work speaks to something very important about emotions: those we feel before we see them, before we tame them, before we accept them. It talks to us about the fabric's weave, the weave of life; it is delicate and possesses something universal. His work is like a language expressed through movement, like words painted to tell a story with a particular calligraphy. His approach penetrates the material with its strengths and vulnerabilities, with black and white. The materials he uses, like Chinese ink and charcoal, accentuate this authenticity, this return to the roots, to the essential. This purity of movement perfectly matched what we wanted to convey in our Fall/Winter '24 collection: elegance, lightness, and beauty.
INTERVIEW WITH HARRISON PRIGNET
WHY DID YOU WANT TO COLLABORATE WITH MAISON 123?
Experimenting with the creation of an accessory collection, including scarves and silk squares, was a dream, a dream that presented itself to me with Maison 123. The spirit that drives the people I had the opportunity to collaborate with turned out to be a source of inspiration in creating these different pieces, meant to engage with some new mediums that I had to fully consider during the creative process.
WHAT WAS YOUR ARTISTIC APPROACH FOR THIS PROJECT?
I had noted the almost choreographic fluidity demonstrated by these teams. Driven by the desire to bring about a certain aesthetic through this adventure that remains true to my work as a visual artist, I embarked on this journey wanting to speak of fabric and material with an initial drawing that, while complex at first glance, is graphic and balanced. A drawing that, to me, seems to evoke the softness we feel when we wrap a scarf around our neck. These more airy, musical movements reflect the imprints of the imperceptible that connect us, like an essential element of balance, like the wind, an invitation to think. I felt great joy after being able to see these ideas materialized, realizing that the freedom I was given allowed me, beyond the pleasure, to share a vision through a new lens.
Thank you very much.
